About the Fireflies

Over the past 25 years we have organically evolved into two entwined and supporting groups, the multiple tours and a supporting world wide community.

IT STARTED AS JUST A BIKE
RIDE ACROSS THE ALPS

The first fireflies tour took place over twenty three years ago in Europe and traced a route from Lake Geneve in Switzerland over the alps and their high Cols to Cannes in the South of France, since that initial tour in 2001 the fireflies spirit has grown, tours have multiplied and millions of dollars and pounds have been raised for cancer research.

The original tour has also inspired veteran riders to create a global cycling club that recruits, supports and builds community around our tours.

THE Fireflies Tours

After the founding European tour, the fireflies spirit has spread to a further three continents with the Californian edition (Fireflies West - this website), a couple of Canadian to New York (Fireflies East), a few Australia and New Zealand (Fireflies Antipodes) and last buy no means least the amazing Fireflies Patagonia our first non road bike tour that charts a course across the Andes and through the Patagonia wilderness.

Fireflies WEST

This is our annual charity bike ride that has raised over 4 million dollars for City Of Hope and their embedded cancer research. Started in 2007, a route was charted that follows the coast and PCH from San Francisco to Los Angeles and took 6 days of long days, over the following years we grew from a handful of riders to over 50 yearly cyclists and a volunteer support group of up to 15 support crew. We still ride that original route but we are embracing the majestic roads that are on the West Coast of America.
